I’m so dizzy my head is spinning. That is the song that went through my head when I received the breaking news today that world-famous photographer, Rankin had worn the Autographer – the wearable camera during the Autographer photoshoot.
Rankin came on board to shoot the Autographer camera for promotional purposes, and was so intrigued by the technology that he decided to use Autographer during the shoot. He used 15 prototype cameras on assistants, models, makeup artists and crew throughout the day to document the photo shoot. And of course Rankin wore Autographer himself while shooting.
The Autographer, a camera worn around your neck or clipped to your shirt is designed to capture thousands of photos every day. It has 136º field of view and 5 on board smart sensors + GPS (ambient light / accelerometer / magnetometer / PIR / temperature)
which helps the camera decide when to take a photo. As Autographer explains, “to capture your authentic and obscene moments”.
Back to why my head is spinning. Watch the video Autographer has put together, a compilation of a still shot every second, taken during their photoshoot from the various Autographer cameras worn by Rankin and the people on the set. It is quite wild how lifelogging done this way shows one so many different perspectives to the one event. It is something that Autographer and other lifelogging cameras soon to be released, like Memoto are counting on – that you and I will see a great value in visually logging our lives.
While there are many naysayers, we at Girlie Gadgets are very excited about this prospect.
It’s only until we start using one that we will discover what it truly means.
