Sometimes the perfect gadget is a good book…
Lucky Lou Gets Game.
On March 15, 2011, Sarah Yates published her first young-adult novel, something Sarah has been working on for more than 10 years. Lucky Lou Gets Game is a coming-of-age story written in the first person about 18-year old Lucky Lou’s efforts to confront her neighbourhood’s resistance to change. Lou Starr is in a wheelchair but her cousin Sam doesn’t take that as an excuse. He coaches her, her outspoken friend Libby and a motley team of other friends how to play baseball. The game has unexpected results. As commentator, back catcher and leader in the community project, Lou gets game and gets the boy she sets her heart on.
