Joby, the makers of the GorillaPod has added to their line of tangible with GORILLACAM, a free iPhone application (built by AppTight) that extends the capabilities of the iPhone’s native camera to include a whirlwind of functions that make taking pictures with your iPhone a whole lot easier, not to mention a whole lot more successful. Think of it as a tri-pod that is able to tap into the inner software of the iPhone to make taking good shots that much easier.
Two of the newest features of the app include 4X Digital Zoom that allows you to frame your shot exactly as you want it and the Anti-shake feature that takes pictures when your phone is steady to eliminate those blurry outtakes that are far to easy to achieve without the app. Other features include a grid overlay that helps you line up your photo, a bubble level that helps you take level shots either horizontally or vertically, press anywhere shutter button, auto-save so you don’t need to interrupt your shots, time-lapse and a self timer. The app even has features that help out those in the photo with the 3-Shot burst function that takes three quick photographs with one tap avoiding that near-perfect picture with someone blinking.
If only SLR cameras had such easy to use functions! They unfortunately don’t and since few of us are willing to or have the time to look through the user manuals, we’ll stick to the free app that does it all for us. Get it for free on iTunes!
