Driving Text & Talk Addict? Take the Pledge and Get the Cure!

TextArrest

“Take the Pledge” is Oprah’s passionate plea for America to stop talking and texting while driving.  Last night in Las Vegas we met the doctor who has the cure for this 21st century addiction.

It is something a lot of us do even when we know we shouldn’t – texting and talking while driving.  We know we shouldn’t, we know we should stop but how can we?   Last night in Vegas in our continuing quest for where glamour meets technology we arrived at  Showstoppers and discovered a company that has just launched the app  TextArrest.   Founder Dr. David Lanzkowsky with an emergency room and trauma background is the brain child behind this “somebody stop me” App.

How Does It Work?

TextArrest is a mobile application for your smartphone. Once you’ve downloaded the app, TextArrest is always there, waiting until you need it to jump into action. You go on using your phone just like normal, only when TextArrest recognizes that your phone is traveling faster than 5mph (or the preset speed you select in your account dashboard) TextArrest disables the phone’s texting and calling features so calls and messages cannot be viewed or created.

While TextArrest has your phone disabled any messages that come in receive an autoreply text message letting them know that you are making safety your priority while behind the wheel.

Once your phone has come to a stop (traveling at a speed slower than 5mph for more than 30 seconds), your phone’s texting and calling features are once again available for use and you can resume your normal all consuming  texting and talking activities.

Shortly put, “TextArrest works to keep your eyes on the road, and off of your phone.”

We noticed that their app is not compatible with all handsets yet and is centric to the United States but this a great start to an innovative app. Obviously, they are working on increasing their footprint.

There is a free version of TextArrest as well as a 4.99/month and 9.99/month version.

Okay girls what are you waiting for?  It’s time we stop talking and texting while driving.
